How to choose a signet ring.

A signet ring is a statement piece — the flat face is what makes it. Three things to decide before you buy: the material, the face shape, and what (if anything) goes on it.

By material

Tungsten and titanium are the modern picks — both scratch-resistant, both essentially maintenance-free. Silver and gold are the heritage choice, softer and suitable for hand engraving. Stainless and damascus steel sit between — rugged but not indestructible. Silicone signets exist too for trade, gym, and water wear.

By face shape

Cushion and oval faces are the traditional signet silhouettes and sit naturally under the knuckle. Round faces read more contemporary and work with or without engraving. Square and rectangular faces give the boldest profile and suit engraved initials particularly well. The wider the face, the more substantial the ring feels on the hand.

By engraving

Plain faces are the most versatile and work as everyday signets. Laser-etched initials or monograms go onto tungsten and titanium. Hand-engraved crests, numerals, and textured finishes are silver and gold territory — and take 2–3 weeks for the engraving alone. Any of our rings can be paired with a complimentary engraving quote at checkout.

Frequently asked.

What is a signet ring?

A signet ring is a flat-faced ring traditionally used to press a family crest into wax. Today, signet rings are worn as statement pieces — the flat face can stay plain, be engraved with an initial or monogram, or set with a stone. They sit between wedding bands and pinky rings in scale.

What materials suit a signet ring best?

The flat top face is what makes a signet ring feel substantial, so denser metals read best. Tungsten and titanium are the most popular for a modern look — scratch-resistant and low-maintenance. Silver and gold are the heritage choice and can be hand-engraved. Stainless and damascus steel give a more rugged finish.

Can signet rings be engraved?

Yes — the flat face is made for it. Silver and gold signets take deep hand engraving. Tungsten and titanium are too hard for traditional engraving but can be laser-etched on the face for a clean, shallow mark. Add engraving at checkout on any ring flagged Engravable.

How should a signet ring fit?

Worn on the pinky traditionally, but the ring finger of either hand works too. It should sit snug enough that the flat face doesn’t spin but not so tight that you can’t remove it over your knuckle. Most mens signet rings sit at Australian sizes Q to Z — if you’re not sure of yours, order a free sizer from the homepage.

How long does delivery take?

Stocked materials (tungsten, titanium, silicone, steel) dispatch within one business day from our Brisbane workshop. Gold, silver and platinum are custom-made to order — typically 2-3 weeks before dispatch. All orders ship with tracked Australia Post; free shipping on orders over $60.

Can I exchange a signet ring if the fit is wrong?

Stocked-material rings over $99 qualify for a free one-off exchange within 60 days (a $10 fee applies under $99). Gold, silver and platinum are custom-made and exchange-exempt — which is why we recommend using a sizer before ordering. Lifetime warranty on stocked metals against cracking, chipping and fading.
